FAQ
What is a .DDD file?
A .DDD file is the digital download from a tachograph driver card or vehicle unit (VU). DVSA requires fleets to download driver cards every 28 days and vehicle units every 90 days, then retain those files for 12 months.
Why convert .DDD to Excel?
Raw .DDD files are binary and unreadable. To check compliance you need a structured view — typically a spreadsheet — listing infringements, penalty exposure, and data gaps for each driver and vehicle. That's what Tachoparser produces.
How long does it take?
Most jobs go from upload to delivered xlsx in under two minutes. Larger uploads (1,000+ DDDs) may take 5–10 minutes.
What about driver privacy?
We act as your Data Processor under UK GDPR Article 28. All data stays in the UK, encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). We delete every DDD and every report within 30 days. Service privacy notice · Company privacy policy.
Can I send DDDs by email instead?
Yes — for ad-hoc jobs you can email DDD files as attachments to support@theftc.co.uk and we'll send the report back manually. The self-service flow is faster for repeat work.
